This is 'Grave Sight' created in 2010, which happened to be a pretty tough year for me for many reasons living in Colorado at the time. It was a dark year. I began this painting that summer in the garage and it stayed half in completion, looking like a total mess for several months. It smelled of cigarettes and dirt. It looked rough, and ugly, like something was trying to emerge but just couldn't. When I was able to pull through and gather my strength and again my inspiration to create, I completed this painting at the end of the year in early December. I didn't know at the time, why I had this image in my head to create or what it meant, but now looking back, and in living so much more in the light these days (literally in sunny Florida, I believe this painting is a message of forgiveness; not of someone else for what they did, but more of forgiveness of one's self. In order to forgive another, you must begin with yourself. That is my story behind this painting.
