Reflejo de Frida' is painting #1 our of 3, in my 2016 Frida series. This year I decided to base each painting from black and white photographs of Frida Kahlo. I searched for images of her that made lasting impressions and I could visualize them in color.
Reflejo de Frida' is painting #1 our of 3, in my 2016 Frida series. This year I decided to base each painting from black and white photographs of Frida Kahlo. I searched for images of her that made lasting impressions and I could visualize them in color. I loved the peace and serenity that flowed from this photograph of Frida looking at herself in an outdoor corridor of some sort. I created her reflection in flesh because it seems like she is longing for something; like she has passed but still holds onto life. She wanted to be remembered. Rose pedals cascade from the light at the top, depicting love from the light. (grace). They turn into vines or veins at the bottom to represent life that carries on and is eternal. I used every color in the palette to create her image in the mirror to represent all the emotions, joy,love,sorrow and pain, she encountered in her earthly life.
I print on the best paper for art. I print all my 8 1/2" by 11" and the 13" by 17" on Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper
