I've been in recovery for 9 months and what I've been rediscovering about myself is how much joy I get out of going behind a closed door, or a quiet spot outside, putting on my headphones, and just drawing or journaling or reading. Each day, I'm getting to know myself more and even like being in my own company. I remember a time not too long ago, where this was difficult for me, to just sit and be with myself. That anxiety of being alone has slowly gotten better and this time I carve out for myself each day, even if just 20 mins is nourishing. I wanted this painting to feel quiet and peaceful.
