Journey Into the Light is a painting that came to my mind after quitting alcohol in Aug 2021. My mind has grown clearer and I have attained a new perspective on life. I've never felt better and with a sound mind and peace in my heart. It feels like coming from a dark tunnel, and I've slowly emerged into a world that's bright and full of all possibilities. That's why I left so much wide open space!; I don't know what lies ahead on the path but I'm enjoying the journey one day at a time. Everything in this painting simply emerged for me to see, and so I painted it like the angel and statue. I included my little white cat Suki who passed away this summer because she was a good omen; an unexpected gift from my higher power to walk with me through some really tough years. She comforted me and was a reminder to me how much I'm loved. As I healed and recovered in sobriety, it was like it was her time to go and her job was done. I always try to remember today to look for the good omens on my path like Suki. The angel represents an ever-present, guiding force that's always been there to help show the way!
