This series features my 'Tiki Man' statue that first showed up in an early oil painting titled 'If Only' in 2006. In this painting, I felt it was missing something very significant in the corner, so I decided to follow my instincts, and just painting away; this horned, foreboding statue is what came to be. I didn't put much thought into creating him, so was surprised at the details, such as the face, staff and smallish feet. In many of my paintings, since creating 'If Only' I have placed the 'Tiki Man' inconspicuously in the corners of pieces, in the same manner as 'If Only'. It's something that ties my work together; now what does the 'Tiki Man' mean? That's not clear to me. I feel it's something ancient and ever present. It spans many many life times and is eternal. Some people have said that it means 'death'. I really don't know but I love to hear what others think this statue means. After placing him inconspicuously in many of my pieces, I finally decided to create this series, giving the 'Tiki Man' the center stage.
